Scientists decided to find out how fast the cork flies out of a bottle of champagne. According to the portal 20 minutes, such a study was conducted by physicists from the University of Champagne-Ardennes in France.
Scientists had to open dozens of bottles and remove the process on specialized equipment. After that, they were able to make all the calculations.
As the ultra-slow-motion shooting showed, a shock wave is formed when the cork leaves the bottle. The gas escapes from the bottle at supersonic speed within a thousandth of a second. According to physicists, this process can only be compared with the take-off of a rocket.
Scientists also found out that carbon dioxide escaping from the bottle immediately turns into dry ice crystals, so a cloud forms around the neck.
