The Danish director Thomas Vinterberg has lost his daughter Ida in a car accident this Saturday, may 4 in Belgium. The vehicle was driven by the mother of the young daughter, ex-wife of the director, Maria Walbom. It is injured, but his prognosis is not engaged. Without having time to brake, the car crashed into a stationary truck, before getting rammed by another car coming from the rear. Sitting on the passenger seat, Ida is dead on the shot.

19-year-Old Ida Vinterberg was the youngest daughter of the couple. Her older sister, Nanna, and she has had the opportunity to accompany their father on various red carpets of international film festivals. Maria Walbom is separated from the director since 2007, after 17 years of common life. She is also director of the Teatret ved Sorte Hest, Theatre of the Black Horse in French, located in Copenhagen.

Thomas Vinterberg is best known for his films Festen (1998) and The Hunt (2012). The first has received the jury prize at the Cannes film Festival, and the second had won several awards on the Croisette, including a best actor for the actor Mads Mikkelsen. Festen marked the first application of the manifesto Dogma 95, the film movement that began Vinterberg and his fellow countryman Lars von Trier in response to hollywood blockbusters, favoring a realism nervous.
Thomas Vinterberg had started the realization of a new film recently. Zentropa, a company of Lars von Trier, which produced the film, announced the suspension of filming for a two week tour.
