LE FIGARO. – The film is very different visually but we still like The Lion King . Was it important for you to keep the same atmosphere?
Jon FAVREAU. – This is one of those works that a whole generation knows almost by heart, dialogues songs. We had to be respectful of the legacy of the original film. But we also wanted to differentiate, for it to have the appearance of the same story while being a different experience. It was a huge challenge. The film should go at once to a young generation who had never heard of the Lion King , to those who had grown up with and those who had simply not seen. It is a game balancing because it had to serve many different perspectives.
